The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has proposed the construction of a commercial and sports complex, as well as a museum showcasing artifacts from the Chhatrapati Shivaji’s era, at the site of the existing Bollywood Centre Point near Sakkardara lake.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting of the NIT Board of Trustees, attended by NIT Chairman Manojkumar Suryavanshi, MLA Mohan Mate, and Trustee Sandeep Itkelwar. Additionally, plans include the construction of a large auditorium to replace an existing hotel. NIT trustees are confident that the renovation of Sakkardara lake and the establishment of the museum will boost NIT’s revenue. In a separate development, NIT approved developmental projects worth 50 crore for Gunthewari lay-outs, including the construction of a 9-meter wide road for 1900 and 572 lay-outs at a cost of 324.23 crore. The Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Nagari Basti Improvement Scheme will also involve infrastructure works in Minimata Nagar, Pardi, and Hivari Nagar, along with the construction of a swimming pool in Dr Ambedkar Sports Complex in Ahuja Nagar, funded by a special government fund.
