Praful Patel, who played an important role in the split of NCP, is likely to get a cabinet berth in the Modi government. Patel is currently a Rajya Sabha member from NCP. He is the current working president of party.
Praful Patel’s role was decisive in the split in the NCP under the leadership of Ajit Pawar. He was at the forefront of negotiations in the backdoor meetings held with the BJP leadership and Devendra Fadnavis. As a reward for the strong support of the Ajit Pawar faction to the Shinde Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government, Praful Patel may be inducted into the Union cabinet.
Praful Patel has vast experience of national politics.During the UPA government, Patel served as the Minister for Civil Aviation from 2004 to 2011 and as the Union Minister for Heavy Industries from 2011 to 2014. his experience of working in the central government, he may be given important responsibilities in the Modi cabinet. There is talk that soon two candidates from Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP will be given a chance in the Union Cabinet.
Praful Patel is known to be very close to Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar had recently appointed him as the National Working President of the party. But Patel has supported the rebellion led by Ajit Pawar by making Pawar’s dilemma. Sharad Pawar himself has expressed displeasure over Patel’s role. “I had given important responsibilities at national level to Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare, But they have not played their role so they have no right to remain in post.”Pawar said.
