In an effort to tackle the increasing use of hookah and the sale of adulterated items in the city, the local police have initiated “Operation Narco Flushout.” This operation comes in response to the discovery that certain hookah parlours are operating under the guise of cafes, posing a threat to public health and safety. Notably, the Hell Cafe located in Bajaj Nagar Square serves as a prime example, being raided twice a week and consistently found selling hookah to its customers.
On Wednesday, acting on a tip-off, the police raided the Hell Cafe and discovered the alleged hookah sales, confirming the information received. Consequently, a case was registered against the cafe’s manager, 22-year-old Kaustubh Lanjewar. However, the customers who were found smoking hookah were released after a warning.
The following day, acting on another tip, the police once again raided the cafe and shockingly found customers actively smoking hookah. In a surprising turn of events, Kaustubh Lanjewar, who had been booked just six days prior, was present alongside the cafe owner, Sushil Chhathrilal Prajapati (35), and one other individual.
“Operation Narco Flushout” aims to curb the illegal activities associated with hookah and ensure that establishments operating under the guise of cafes are held accountable. The city police are committed to safeguarding public health and cracking down on such illicit practices.
