SPIC MACAY is the society that strives for the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst the youth for a greater awareness about the richness in one’s own legacy of Indian Culture. Teachers and students of Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, contribute a great deal towards this noble cause, year after year, under the able guidance of the SPIC MACAY co-ordinator, Mrs. Abha Parashar. On July 4, in the Senior Assembly, the participants of the 8thInternational SPIC MACAY Convention held at VNIT, Nagpur from 29 May – 4 June 2023, reacquainted the audience of their enriched learnings at the convention.
The five participants attended the Intensives in various arenas to acquire knowledge in depth. Ranjit Goenka (Class X) attended the Intensives in Dhrupad by Padmashri Wasifuddin Dagar, Hakimuddin Hirani (Class XI) in Carnatic Vocal by Vidwan Shesh Chary ji, PinakJeevrajani (Class XI) in Carnatic Vocal, Rashi Bodhe(Class IX) in Hindustani Classical Vocal by VidushiPrabha Atre ji, and Radhika Agrawal (Class IX) in Classical Vocal by Shri Rajneesh Mishra ji.
Radhika Agrawal mesmerised the students of Classes VI – XII with the beautiful rendition of a Classical song, in the Morning Assembly. During the Convention, these five participants developed their concentration skills through the yoga sessions taken up each morning, and added to their knowledge through the afternoon and evening concerts that they attended. The presentation by the five participants met with a favourable response by all students who learnt about the grandeur of Indian Culture.
