“The low pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand now lies over South Jharkhand and adjoining North Interior Odisha. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels tilting south-westwards with height. It is likely to move west-north-westwards across north Chhattisgarh during the next two days,” said an IMD press release on Sunday.
To date, Vidarbha has witnessed scattered rainfall, which means 26-50 percent of stations received monsoon rains. According to the Weather Department, Akola witnessed the highest 60 percent rainfall deficit to date. However, in the next seven days, Akola will witness good monsoon rains which may improve the status of the district. Buldhana (43% deficit), Washim (40% deficit), Chandrapur (39% deficit) and Gadchiroli (32% deficit).
