Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Health Department was shocked to detect that the drinking water at Government Nursing School, supplied through a water filter, was also contaminated. The test was conducted following the death of a nursing student due to gastroenteritis, a Marathi daily has reported.
The nursing student was initially diagnosed as a gastroenteritis patient. Later, however, she was detected to have suffered from Typhoid. It is also alleged that delay in treatment caused her death.
The student along with her friends had consumed ‘Panipuri’. She was considered to have suffered from a stomach disorder due to ‘Panipuri’ consumption. Typhoid is caused by the consumption of contaminated food or water. The bacteria (Salmonella Typhi) causing Typhoid multiplies fast and spread into the bloodstream.
