The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Sujit Patkar and Kishor Bisure in connection with the alleged fraud during the Covid-19 pandemic in Mumbai Metropolitan Council. Both Patankar and Busure are close associates of MP Sanjay Raut of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya had levelled charges of corruption worth Rs 100 crore, for works related to Covid Centres. ED started enquiry with Sujit Patkar of Lifeline Hospital Management; Dr Kishor Basure of Dahisar Covid Field Hospital and MBC officers Sanjiv Jaiswal and Suresh Chavan. Based on the information ED sleuths arrested Patklar and Bisure on Thursday morning.
