CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) and CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit (CSIR-IPU), New Delhi jointly organized an interactive session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) recently at CSIR-NEERI on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM). Dr. Shikha Rastogi, Sr. Principal Scientist, CSIR-IPU, Dr. GauravKrishnan, Sr. Principal Scientist, CSIR-IPU, New Delhi and Mrs. Chayya Satpute, IPR Expert, Ex-Official, RGNIIPMwere the resource persons. Dr. Atul Vaidya, Director, CSIR-NEERI presided over the event. The scientific, technical and research staff took part in the IPR awareness session.
Dr. Shikha Rastogi discussed various issues regarding IPR, patentable and non-patentable inventions, patentability Criteria, identification of patentable invention for utility, strategic planning for securing IPR, requirements and procedures for filing the IPR, importance and benefits of IPR,filing, patent drafting, etc. Mrs. Chayya Satpute spoke about the role of patent information in technology development and types of IPR such as copyright, designs, GI and Trade Mark.Dr. Gaurav Krishnan highlighted various issues emerging after grant of patents in India and abroad.
Dr. Atul Vaidya, Director, CSIR-NEERI in his opening remarks stated the significance of IPR in the field of Science and Technology. The participants discussed various issues regarding IPR such as intellectual property filing and steps towards marketing and commercialization of intellectual property.
Dr. Sushant B. Wath, Principal Scientist and IPR Coordinator,CSIR-NEERI conducted the proceedings and briefed about the IPR status, IP policy and filing procedures of CSIR-NEERI, and gave an overview of the training programme and its objectives to all the participants.
