Passengers are facing inconvenience in Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express. Due to less number of sleeper coaches and with the rush of passengers being increased, these coaches have now been converted into general coaches. Non-availability of seats and increase in the number of waiting tickets, passengers have to sit on floor and travel.
It may be noted that two months back the Central Railway Administration had reduced the number of non AC sleeper coaches in the Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express. And the number of third AC coaches has been increased. Earlier, the number of sleeper coaches in the train was six, which has now come down to two. At the same time, the number of 3AC bogies has increased to 14.
Railways felt that this decision would benefit them and the income of the Railways would increase. But the result was completely opposite. In sleeper coaches there are more travellers compared to that of AC coaches Many AC coaches are going vacant.
According to IRCTC, there is waiting list every day in the sleeper coaches. A sleeper coach has 72 seats. Duronto is fitted with two sleeper coaches. According to which only 144 seats are available. The situation has become such that due to crowd and non-confirmation of tickets, passengers are traveling sitting on the floor of the coach.
