Central Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides, Nagpur Division, took a momentous step towards nurturing knowledge and learning as they proudly inaugurated the Lakshmi Mazumdar Library at the Shankar Dhiman Memorial Scout Guide Den, Ajni. The auspicious occasion coincided with India’s 77th Independence Day, further elevating the significance of the event. The inauguration was gracefully conducted by Shri. Tushar Kant Pandey, Divisional Railway Manager & President, Central Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides, Nagpur Division.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities including Smt. Leena Pandey, President of the Women’s Social Service Committee (WSSC); Shri. P.S. Khairkar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Admin) & District Chief Commissioner, Central Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides, Nagpur Division; Shri. Rupesh Chandekar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Technical), Central Railway, Nagpur. The event saw the active participation of Branch Officers and all members of WSSC.
Named in honor of the renowned Lakshmi Mazumdar, First Lady National Commissioner of The Bharat Scouts & Guides, National Headquarters who was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 1965, the library embodies the organization’s unwavering commitment to intellectual enrichment and personal growth. As the nation celebrated the 77th Independence Day, this inauguration resonated with the spirit of progress and enlightenment that she symbolized.
Addressing the attendees, Shri. Tushar Kant Pandey emphasized the pivotal role of the library as a wellspring of knowledge, poised to empower individuals and contribute to the holistic development of the organization. He acknowledged the collective efforts that brought the library project to fruition and expressed optimism about its profound impact on the Scouts & Guides community.
The realization of this remarkable initiative was made possible through the visionary leadership of Dr Shubhangee Sakhare, Senior Divisional Medical Officer & District Commissioner (G) and Shri. Ashutosh Pandey, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner & District Commissioner (S). The invaluable guidance provided by Shri. Y. Ashok, Assistant Divisional Engineer (HQ) & Assistant District Commissioner (HQ), steered the project towards success.
