Siblings across the country gear up to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi. The festival is observed in the Poornima Tithi of the Shravan Maas and signifies the strong connections that exist among siblings. Traditionally, sisters tie Rakhis around their brothers’ wrists, symbolizing their desire for their brothers’ well-being and long life.
Alongside the Rakhis, the exchange of gifts is also a ritual as a pledge of security and fondness towards each other.
However, there exists uncertainty concerning the auspicious timing, or shubh muhurat, for tying Rakhis. This is because Hindus have the option to observe Raksha Bandhan on either August 30 or 31 this year. To gather all the specific details, take a closer look.
According to Drik Panchang, the festival of Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 30. However, due to the presence of Bhadra Kaal, it is also deemed acceptable to perform the Rakhi tying ceremony on August 31.
For this year, the Raksha Bandhan Bhadra Poonch period will span from 5:30 pm to 6:31 pm on August 30. Subsequently, the Raksha Bandhan Bhadra Mukha phase will begin at 6:31 pm and conclude at 8:11 pm on the same day.
Consequently, the conclusion of Raksha Bandhan Bhadra is held at 9:01 pm. The propitious timing to commence Raksha Bandhan rituals and partake in the ceremonies with your siblings will commence after the culmination of Bhadra Kaal at 9:01 pm.
Furthermore, the Poornima Tithi, corresponding to the Full Moon phase, will commence on August 30 at 10:58 am and conclude on August 31 at 7:05 am.
