The reservation granted to OBC (Other Backward Classes) will not be affected and will not be reduced in any case, said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday.
Fadnavis visited the pandal, where Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh members are on a chain-hunger strike. President of the Federation Dr Babanrao Taywade, Sudhakar Kohale, Sameer Meghe, Parinay Fuke, Ashish Deshmukh, Pravin Datke and others were present.
Fadnavis said that he also held a discussion with OBC leaders at Sambhajinagar, who are also on a chain hunger strike.
The OBCs have staged a hunger strike following the demand of the Maratha community for reservation. It is suspected that by issuing caste certificates as Kunbi, Marathas will be included in the reservation quota for the OBCs.
Justice Shinde, in his report stated that Marathas were originally Kunbi, which led to the conflict between the two communities.
Fadnavis said that he had assured reservation for Marathas when he was the Chief Minister. Now he will resolve the issue without affecting the OBC quota.
OBC Mahasangh has planned a morcha on Monday and Dr Taywade announced to launch indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday.
