Concerns about dirty bedrolls on trains leaving from Nagpur are still on the rise. It is unexpected that the laundry located on railroad property was given the cleaning contract. The railway administration opts to temporarily hire a substitute contractor to clean bedrolls rather than taking proper action.
The Ajni Railway Laundry deal was signed about six years ago. Unfortunately, after a few years, the original contractor stopped operating. The railway was compelled to investigate alternate solutions right away as a result.
Sadly, nothing was done to stop the contractor’s unreasonable behavior. Notably, concerns about dirty blankets and bedsheets—along with video evidence—were forwarded to senior railroad officials. Even then no complaint was lodged against them in the issue. Despite efforts on to do so with senior officers of the Railway mechanical branch and those in charge of public relations. As a result, concerns have been raised about the contractor’s actions as well as senior railway officials’ replies.
Apart from this, Ajni Railway Laundry is also facing a staff crunch and several grievances have been voiced by the employees there, informed Dilip Gaur, member of DRUCC.
The railways should impose penalties and cancel the license of the guilty contractor. But, unfortunately no action has been taken, Gaur said.
