29th September is World Heart Day, and as a leading health care hospital Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur has organised a no. of activities to make people aware of heart attack, how to keep heart healthy and above all, how to save a person suffering from heart attack and save life.
As 80 % of cardiac arrest happen out of hospital and only 20 % in hospital. In hospital one can get help of doctors but when it happens outside, until and unless you receive any medical help it imperative that one should know the techniques of CPR. Most common people are not aware of many simple techniques that saves life. When in public place if anybody is unconscious or having any breathing problem, then as first responder one should know the technique of CPR.
In an effort to empower the VR MALL community with life-saving skills, Dr. Rupesh Bokade, a renowned Emergency and Critical Care Medicine Physician, Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur hosted a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training event that drew participants from all walks of life. This informative and hands-on workshop took place at VR mall on 16th September 2023, leaving attendees equipped with the knowledge and confidence to act swiftly during critical medical emergencies.
With over a decade of experience in the field of emergency medicine, Dr. Rupesh Bokade is no stranger to the importance of CPR. He believes that knowing how to perform CPR can be the difference between life and death in emergency situations, and he is passionate about spreading this knowledge far and wide. Dr.Rupesh Bokade is one of the very few trained emergency physicians in Vidarbha region whose efforts have recently been acknowledged by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department for saving precious lives in the natural calamity in Chandrataal in July 2023.
Dr. Rupesh Bokade a certified instructor of American Heart Association for Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life support ( BSL) said that “cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time, and having individuals trained in CPR can substantially increase the chances of survival until professional help arrives.”
The participants were then divided into smaller groups for hands-on training. Under Dr. Bokade’s expert guidance, they practiced the correct chest compression techniques, rescue breaths, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). These devices can significantly improve survival rates if used promptly during a cardiac arrest.
The event also emphasized the importance of teamwork in CPR scenarios. Dr. Bokade led simulations in which participants worked together to perform CPR and coordinate efforts effectively. This collaborative aspect of the training was particularly appreciated by attendees, as it mirrored real-life situations.
Over all it was a very satisfactory event and staff working there was happy to receive the training.
Dr Bokade also showed how to perform “Heimlich maneuver” in a emergency Choking Situation while eating food.
Dr. Rupesh Bokade a sincere and dedicated professional says, ” We are happy by imparting this training to the staff and educating them. As a doctor I am always of the opinion that a life is very precious and everybody should contribute to it when it comes to saving a life.
