Nagpur Airport and Sitabuldi area received 111 mm rain on September 23 till 10 am. Pardi area received 103 mm.
The flood situation occurred in Nagpur due to heavy rains during the night. Ambazari Lake, Nag River, Pwali River, and nullahs flowing across the city were overflowing. The rescue teams of NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army, and Apada Mitra worked to evacuate the stranded people. As per the Nagpur Municipal Corporation reports NMC’s Fire Department rescued 152 people; SDRF – 105, NDF – 45, Indian Army – 36 and Apada Mitra rescued 11 people.
One casualty has been reported so far. Mirabai Pillay, 70 years, a resident of Mahesh Nagar died in the flood. A total of 14 cattle died as flood water entered their shed.
