The Union Home Ministry has imposed a 5-year ban on central deputation and foreign assignments on 8 IPS officers under the IPS tenure policy. Of these 8 officers, 3 are from Maharashtra, 3 Uttar Pradesh and 2 Haryana cadre IPS officers. The name of DCP Zone-3 Gorakh Bhamre of Nagpur city is also included in this list.
Under the IPS tenure policy, IPS officers from all the states of the country are appointed to different places on central deputation. Every year many officers apply for central deputation. Officers can leave their cadre and work in various central departments including CBI, NIA, BSF, CISF, National Police Academy, BPRD.
The IPS Tenure Policy has been formulated to deal with officers who do not join the charge despite appointment. Under paragraph 17 of this policy, a ban of 5 years has been imposed on these officers.
