Nagpur, is home to the illustrious Shree Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Mata Mandir, a Hindu temple revered for its spiritual significance and architectural beauty.
Dedicated to the Hindu goddess Jagdambha Mata, also known as Mahalaxmi, this temple draws devotees from across India and around the world. Locally, it’s popularly referred to as the Koradi Devi Temple, nestled in the city of Koradi near Nagpur.
The temple is set to be the centre of devotion and festivities as it gears up to celebrate the upcoming Navratri festival, spanning from October 15 to October 24. Every year, during Navratri and Shardiya Navratri festivals in the month of Ashwin, the temple sees an influx of devotees.
What sets this temple apart is the belief that the goddess Mahalakshmi Jagdamba assumes three forms each day during Navratri. In the morning, she appears as Kuwari, symbolizing purity and innocence. By the afternoon, she transforms into a resplendent lady, and as the evening sets in, she embodies the image of a mature woman, representing wisdom and experience. This unique spiritual experience draws lakhs of devotees year after year.
According to local18, Raghavendra Tokekar, a resident, shared that the history of the temple spans over 100 years, during which the Koradi Devi has become a symbol of prayer for countless devotees. Recently, the temple underwent extensive renovation and beautification, amplifying its spiritual, mythological, and historical importance.
As a testament to their commitment to devotees, the temple authorities had initially planned to construct a Bhakta Nivas, a facility equipped with 165 rooms, offering all the amenities necessary for pilgrims. However, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic altered plans. The dire need for hospitals prompted the temple administration to redirect their efforts towards establishing a multi-organ transplant hospital instead, benefiting the community during challenging times.
Presently, the temple is in a phase of active renovation and expansion, with work underway on a colossal 151-foot Hanuman statue adjacent to the temple’s serene pond. This monumental addition is poised to further enhance the spiritual allure of the already cherished Shree Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Mata Mandir.
