As the World Cup fever is getting intense, City Police have prohibited live screening of ongoing matches of Cricket World Cup by setting up big screens at any private or public place or establishment without prior permission.
A notification to this effect was issued by Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before the commencement of the high-profile India-Pakistan match on Saturday.
The City Police chief issued the notification with reference to certain matches of high sensitivity which can spur incidents having serious implications on public peace and order and disturbing the general peace and communal harmony in the Second Capital of Maharashtra.
Organisers will have to obtain no objection certificate (NoC) from the Special Branch (SB) Office, fourth floor, A- Wing, Police Bhawan, Civil Lines, by applying at least 24 hours prior to the holding of such screenings. A single window for this purpose will function from 11 am to 5 pm every day at the SB G office.
Permission will be granted after fulfilling all conditions laid down in the notification. This order will remain in force till November 19, 202.
