South East Central Railway is continuously working for better passenger facilities. Maximum passenger facilities are being provided as per the criteria at all stations. Also, to ensure our social responsibility and welfare towards the disabled people, many disabled friendly passenger facilities have been provided in stations and trains. In order to enable the disabled passengers to do all the work of their needs self-reliant without the help of anyone else, disabled friendly passenger facilities have been provided in all 319 stations of South East Central Railway Zone for the convenience of the disabled people. Due to the facilities provided to disabled passengers in stations and trains, the number of disabled railway passengers is also increasing day by day.
Under Nagpur division, foot over bridge facility has been provided for entry at Gondia, Dongargarh and Chhindwara stations and platforms. Escalator and lift facilities have been provided at Gondia and Rajnandgaon stations for movement from one platform to another. Along with this, work on lifts at 11 stations and escalators at 4 stations has been approved.
Portable ramps are available for the convenience of “PWD” passengers to enter the train at 12 major stations of Nagpur Division while the facility of tactile map for guidelines is available at 13 stations for the convenience of “PWD” passengers. In this, specially made metal stickers in Braille script have been installed, by touching which visually impaired passengers can get information about rules, information and facilities related to railways. For the convenience of disabled people and senior citizens, battery operated car facility is available at 4 stations of DPR Nagpur division, Gondia, Rajnandgaon, Dongargarh and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari.
Disabled friendly toilet facilities are available at 203 stations of South East Central Railway zone. A separate coach facility has been provided for the disabled in the trains. These coaches have facilities like wide entrance, wide berth, special toilet, designated space for wheel chair, additional grab rail etc. The last of the new LHB coaches are designed LSLRD coaches which are Divyang friendly coaches. Keeping in mind the convenience of the disabled, 202 wheelchairs and stretchers etc. have been made available at the station free of cost.
While discharging its social responsibility, South East Central Railway Zone is continuously trying to improve the travel experience of the disabled people.
