The Forest department recovered the skeleton of T12 Maya tigress. She was missing for about 3 months. The Forest Department has estimated that Maya died due to natural causes.
Tigress T12, known as Maya, was the lead tigress in the Pandharpaoani core area of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. She was born in December 2010.
Since June 2014, T12 has given birth to a total of 13 cubs five times (2015, 2017, 2020 and 2022), out of which, except 4 cubs born to the second and third tiger, the rest did not survive to reproductive age due to natural reasons. Since 2014, Maya was continuously monitored through trap cameras. Maya was missing since August 2023. Forest department started search operation.
During this period, a total of 150 staff including officers and employees were engaged in the search. after a search operation that lasted for about two days, on Saturday afternoon the Forest Department recovered the skeleton of Maya tigress in compartment number 82 of Tadoba.
