On December 2, Nagpur University will hold its 111th convocation ceremony, with President Droupadi Murmu serving as the chief guest. Her office provided confirmation of the event on Thursday.
Instead of December 2, as previously reported, the President would be arriving in the city on December 1 for the platinum jubilee inaugural ceremony of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Murmu would be the guest of the GMCH that same day from 4 to 5 p.m.
The location of NU convocation has not yet been selected. The grand ceremony, according to NU officials, might take place on the campus property where the Indian Science Congress was held earlier this year.
Officials stated, “The President’s high-profile security will be taken into consideration when choosing the venue.”
When the NU administration learned that she would be attending the GMCH ceremony on December 1, they sent out invitations for the convocation.
Prior to this, Pratibha Patil and Rajendra Prasad also graced NU convocation as the President of India.
