According to the Mumbai police, the airport’s Terminal 2 was the target of a “threat” letter sent on Thursday to the Mumbai International Airport. The email’s sender has requested that $1 million in Bitcoin be sent within 48 hours in order to prevent the explosion in Terminal 2.
“Sahar police have registered a case against an unknown person for sending the threat mail using the email id – quaidacasrol@gmail.com,” Mumbai Police stated in the report. The email was reportedly sent on Thursday at around 11:00 AM to the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) feedback inbox.
The threat email has the “Subject: Blast”, and the text: “Your airport has received one last warning. If no one transfers one million dollars in Bitcoin to the address, we will blow up Terminal 2 in 48 hours. There will be another alert in 24 hours.”
In response to the threat email, a case has been filed under sections 505 (1) (b) and 385 of the Indian Penal Code (which deal with statements made with the intent to cause fear and alarm to the public for the purpose of extortion) against an unidentified individual.
