The 4th Sports for Change (SFC) district-level competition, which is being co-hosted by the HCL Foundation and Krida Vikas Sanstha (Slum Soccer), is set to begin on Wednesday with athletics competitions at the Mankapur athletics track.
About 1500 people are actively trained in four different sports by Slum Soccer, which is present in all of the city’s NMC schools: football, kabaddi, volley-ball, and athletics.
Three new events have been added this year: chess, carrom, and kho-kho. Students who were born after January 1, 2009, are welcome to enter the competition. It is anticipated that over 1100 athletes from all of the aforementioned sports will compete.
The winning teams and individuals in each category will move on to the zonal-level Sports for Change competition, where the victors will go on to the SFC National Finals in Chennai in July 2024.
