It has been admitted that more than two and a half thousand women and girls have missing from Nagpur district in just 8 months. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave this information in written reply in legislative Council.
3838 persons went missing from Nagpur district from March 2023 to October 2023. Among them 2011 women and 225 boys and girls were included. Investigations have revealed that many minor girls leave because of parental anger, study reasons to hang out with friends and family reasons. Ways of abducting girls by showing them various lures have come to light. Fadnavis informed that most of these cases are related to love relationships. 3239 persons were found out of the missing persons from the district.
Nagpur Police has started Bharosa Cell and Police Didi initiative at Police Station level. Under this, teams of police officers visit schools, colleges, private tutoring classes, slums, women’s hostels and counsel the adolescent boys and girls. The Deputy Chief Minister also explained that the rate of finding of missing persons within the limits of City Police Commissionerate is 88 percent and the rate of finding of abducted persons is 94 percent.
