In a collaborative effort aimed at fortifying cyber security awareness, the Government Institute of Forensic Science in Nagpur, in partnership with Quick Heal Foundation, orchestrated a comprehensive initiative titled “Cyber Shiksha for Cyber Suraksha.” The primary objective of this endeavor was to educate and sensitize various stakeholders about the perils of cybercrimes and equip them with preventive measures to thwart online frauds and scams.
Under this initiative, a team of 50 dedicated student volunteers from the institute took proactive steps by conducting 218 informative presentations across 108 educational institutions in Nagpur and its surrounding regions, reaching out to a staggering 43,000 students. These engagements aimed to enlighten the younger demographic about the diverse array of cyber threats prevalent in today’s digital landscape and impart strategies to safeguard against them.
Moreover, the initiative expanded its scope beyond academic institutions, undertaking 65 impactful awareness activities to educate over 3,000 individuals from diverse backgrounds. This extensive outreach targeted a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including street vendors, shopkeepers, joggers, homemakers, bank employees, business owners, priests, NGOs, and various government departments. The collective effort aimed to empower these segments of society with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the digital realm securely.
Under the guidance of Dr. Anjali Rahatgaonkar, the success of this initiative owes much to the relentless dedication of the student captain Sundaram Vishal and teacher mentors Dr. Ashish Badiye, Dr. Neeti Kapoor, and Hansi Bansal. Their unwavering commitment served as the cornerstone for the effective execution and impact of the program. Sugandha Dani, Mrs. Gayatri Pawar and Ajay Shirke from Quick Heal Foundation, Pune played pivotal roles for the success of this initiative.
This collaborative effort stands as a testament to the power of education and collective action in fortifying our communities against cyber vulnerabilities, echoing the sentiment that knowledge is the strongest defense in the digital age.
