RTM Nagpur University will host five events of the Maharashtra Inter-University Sports Festival to be held from January 12 to 16.
The inaugural function will be chaired by the Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities in the state Ramesh Bais at 3 pm on January 12. Former International Kabadi player Sunil Dawas will be the guest of honour. Dawas has been honoured with Padma Shri, Arjun and Dronacharya awards. He will flag off the festival. RTMNU VC Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Pro-VC r Sanjay Dudje, and Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase will remain present.
Nine sports events for women have been allotted to RTMNU and Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University. Nagpur University will host boys and girls events in Athletics, Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Badminton, while BATU will host Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Football and Chess.
The events allotted to RTMNU in its centenary year, will have participation of sportspersons from 23 universities. This is the third occasion of Nagpur University hosting the festival, earlier being in 1999 and 2012.
RTMNU VC Dr Chaudhari shared the information during a press conference on Wednesday. Pro-VC Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Director of Sports Dr Sharad Suryavanshi and others were present.
