The officials of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University are in a quandary, as Maharashtra Government is likely to announce a holiday on January 22, the day of consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. Several states have already announced the holiday. Even Central Government has announced a half-day holiday.
The university is conducting examinations for several courses. The examination schedule will be disturbed, if a holiday is announced on January 22.
Although the Director of Examinations and Evaluation Dr Prafulla Sable did not make any comment, he said that the decision will be taken only if a holiday is announced.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic the university examinations are being delayed. It is being back on the track gradually. The University is an autonomous body, but cannot ignore the decisions of the state government. Although the Centre has announced the holiday, the State Government will have to take decision separately.
Rescheduling any paper poses many problems for the university. The students who stay outside also face problems in managing the new schedule of examinations.
