The Nagpur police have declared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in the Mahal area of Nagpur, Maharashtra, as a “no-drone” zone. They have also prohibited photography and videography of the premises until March 28, citing concerns about a potential threat to the RSS headquarters.
Under the provisions of Section 144 (1) (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), an order issued on January 28 by Joint Commissioner of Police Aswathi Dorje said that the RSS headquarters is situated in a densely populated area, surrounded by hotels, lodges, and coaching classes.
Due to this, there is a risk that individuals passing through the surrounding area might engage in taking pictures, recording videos, or using drone videography, thereby posing a potential threat to the headquarters, as mentioned in the order. Joint Commissioner of Police Aswathi Dorje stated in the order, “Therefore, I am prohibiting the act of taking pictures, videos, or employing drone photography in the area.” Officials have indicated that those who violate this order will face legal action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to disobedience to orders duly promulgated by a public servant. The order will remain in effect from January 29 to March 28 this year.
