The Gowari Samaj staged a “chakka jam” protest against State Government for reservation in tribals. Traffic has come to a complete standstill as protesters have blocked the road in Samvidhan Chowk and Variety Chowk.
For the last 11 days, 3 youths of the Gowari community have been on hunger strike for the demand that Gowari community should be given tribal reservation. The government has not taken any notice of this protest. as there was no movement regarding reservation on the part of the government, thousands of Gowari tribal members from various parts of the state including Vidarbha reached the Samvidhn Square on Monday. traffic was stopped from all four sides of the main road of the city, Traffic has been disrupted in the city since 1 pm.
