Organized by Gurmeet Singh Khokhar and convened by Balbir Singh Renu, ‘Nagpur Sikh Samaj’ conducted a felicitation program of prominent Sikhs from Nagpur at the hands of Nitin Gadkari – Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India at Sardarni Paramjeet Kaur Kalsi Auditorium, Gurunanak College of Pharmacy, Nagpur. Also present on the dais were Narinder Singh Dheer, Harbhajan Singh Mann, Amritpal Singh Alag, Malkit Singh Bal and were also felicitated.
Presidents of respective Gurudwaras, Sukhbir Singh Marhas, Harjeet Singh Bagga, Nishan Singh Ghotra, Kamaljit Singh Multani, Kulwant Singh Bhullar, Gurmeet Singh Nijjar, Gurvinder Singh Dhillon, Paramveer Singh Bawari, Maninder Singh Jabbal, Kulbir Singh Gunjeand Harnek Singh Sondh were felicitated.

In introduction speech Balbir Singh Renu highlighted the contribution of Sikh from various sectors in nation building and giving employment to large numbers. Around 13 Gurudwaras of Nagpur too carried the very important task of feeding the needy during the pandemic. Renu requested Gadkari that Sikh Community need 10-12 acres of land for the Community Centre as present Gurudwaras are now short of space. Also requested for a representation in the government from the Sikh Community to the deserving person.
Nitin Gadkari while addressing the large gathering appreciated the efforts of the organizers as such felicitations encourages youths and others to work hard. He also appreciated the Sikh community of being entrepreneurs, thereby generating jobs for many citizens. He also shared that when he graduated, his mother suggested him to get a job in a bank, to which Gadkari refused and said that I will not become an employee, but become an employer and now I am giving direct & indirect employment to 16,000-17,000.
A large number of Sikhs with family attended the event. The program was conducted by Surinder Kaur Sabharwal and vote of thanks was delivered by Gurmeet Singh Khokhar.
