Nagpur will get 150 E-buses and two charging stations under the PM-E-Bus Scheme of the Central Government’s Housing and Urban Development Ministry. The proposal submitted by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has been approved by the Centre.
The proposal was submitted by the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijit Chaudhari. The Centre has approved the proposal of Nagpur as one of the centres where 10,00 E-Buses will be provided under the project. The project has been approved for cities having a population between 20 to 40 lakhs. Additional Municipal Commissioner Anchal Goel has a valuable contribution in the project proposal.
The proposals for the development of Koradiand Khapri depots have also been approved. Nagpur has a fleet of 541 buses, of which 165 are diesel-operated Standard buses, 150 Midi and 45 Mini buses, 70 are CNG and 111 E-buses.
NMC submitted the feasibility report for the parking depotsof 75 E-buses. The Centre has approved Rs 21.14 crore for Koradi Deport and Rs 6.37 crore for thedevelopment of Khapri Depot.
