The RTO office has suspended the driving licenses of 23 thousand citizens who violated traffic rules in Nagpur in the last four years.
Nagpur City Regional Transport Office suspended the driving licenses of 23 thousand 337 citizens who repeatedly violated traffic rules in the city between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023. In the past, proposals for license suspension of drivers who repeatedly violated traffic rules were not sent to RTOs. But, recently, the RTO along with the traffic police have tightened their belts to bring the reckless drivers to booked. Accordingly, social activist Abhay Kolarkar has brought forward through Right to Information that as many as 23 thousand 223 licenses have been cancelled.
Nagpur city RTO office issued international driving licenses to 1 thousand 824 drivers between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023. During this period 1 lakh 70 thousand 98 drivers were given learner driving licenses and 75 thousand 1 drivers were given permanent driving licenses in Nagpur city limits.
