Government Dental College in Nagpur observed National Periodontist Day with a series of programmes orchestrated by the Department of Periodontology. The event, inaugurated by Dr Tushar Shrirao, Vice President of the Indian Society of Periodontology, took place on February 23rd. Senior Periodontists Dr RM Kohad and Dr RK Yeltiwar, alongside acting Dean Dr Mangesh Phadnaik, graced the occasion.
Dr Shrirao emphasized the importance of educating patients, particularly stressing the significance of maintaining gum health for overall well-being. He highlighted the ISP Head Office’s theme advocating for oral health screenings among prepubertal girls and pregnant women.
Various activities, including street plays, competitions such as selfie with smile, slogan, reel making, photography, quiz, and patient testimonials, were organized by the Department of Periodontology throughout the month.
In further celebration, on March 8th, coinciding with World Women’s Day, the Department of Periodontology, along with the Department of Public Health Dentistry and the Equal Opportunity Cell, will conduct an oral health check-up camp for prepubertal girls at St. Ursula Girls High School, Nagpur.
The month-long event will culminate in a valedictory program on March 20th, 2024, coinciding with World Oral Health Day. As part of the ongoing activities, a quiz contest for undergraduate students was held today, led by Dr Kalpak Peter as the Quizmaster and coordinated by Dr Mansi Joshi, Drs Vaibhav Karemore and Dr Vivek Thombre played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the program, with Dr Payal and Deepak overseeing the event’s execution. Dr Vaibhav Karemore introduced the Chief Guest, while Dr Vivek Thombre extended the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all involved.
