The Maharashtra Government has earmarked Rs 746.99 crores for developing a sports complex in Nagpur for conducting sports events at state, national and international levels. The regional sports complex at Nagpur will have facilities for sports persons and their trainers under the new project. This was stated by Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sanjay Bansode.
The sports complex will be developed like the Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi, Pune. The renovation of the sports complex was proposed to which the Maharashtra Ministry has shown the green signal. The swimming pool, squash court, tennis court, basketball court, Archery range, hockey7, and football pavilion will be renovated under the proposal. The sports persons and their trainers will have facilities of international level at the sports complex.
A total of Rs 63.20 crore, including State Plan Rs 51.20 crore, and District Planning Committee Rs 12 crore have been released. An estimate of Rs 683.79 crore was received by the State Government. The Government has approved Rs 746.99 crore for the development of the sports complex and make it suitable for conducting sports events of the international level, Bansode said.
