‘Marathi Language Pride Day’ celebrated in Hindi-Marathi Department
Marathi is an ancient language of India. Saints and reformers enriched it with their writings. Vishnu Vaman Shiradkar ‘Kusumagraj’ did a great job of organizing and nourishing Marathi from literary and linguistic point of view. This is why Kusumagraj is known as a symbol of pride of Marathi language.
The above views were expressed by Dr. Shailendra Lende, Head of the Department of Marathi, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, on the occasion of Marathi Language Pride Day, in a program organized under the joint aegis of the Hindi and Marathi Department of the University and Education Culture Upliftment Trust, Vidarbha Province.
He said that Kusumagraj embellished the Marathi language with his work.
While presiding over the program, Head of Hindi Department, Dr. Manoj Pandey said that Kusumagraj was the best writer who glorified the Marathi language. Remembering the birth anniversary of a writer as a symbol of pride for a particular language is a matter of pride for that language-speaking society. This gives an introduction to the works and contributions of Kusumagraja. He said that celebrating the birth anniversary of poet Kusumagraj as Language Day is an indicator of the society’s gratitude towards him.
Associate Professor Dr. Santosh Girhe said that the literature of Kusumagraj is a reflection of the identity of Marathi language. We find a long tradition of great litterateurs who enriched the language in Marathi literature. Professor of Marathi Department, Dr. Amrita Indurkar said that the literature of Kusumagraja is a bridge of Indian languages. Marathi language is an elite language. Therefore, other language speakers are also interested in reading Marathi literature.
The program was conducted by Pvt. Damodar Dwivedi expressed his gratitude and Prof. of Marathi Department expressed his gratitude. Harshal Gedam did it. On this occasion, Dr. Lakheshwar Chandravanshi, Dr. Sumit Singh, Dr. Kunjanlal Lilhare, Dr. Ekadashi Jaitwar, Pvt. Jagriti Singh, Akanksha Bangar, Pvt. A large number of researchers and students of Hindi and Marathi departments including Amit were present.
