Testing conducted on Saturday
Testing of the third and fourth railway tracks between Ajni and Khapri was carried out on Saturday. The lanes are being laid to facilitate the movement of trains, particularly the goods trains.
The proposal for laying the third and fourth lane was moved during the COVID-19 pandemic when the Railway Ministry earned huge profits in freight. Passenger traffic was restricted during the pandemic.
The movement of good trains was faster during the period. The Railway Ministry planned to lay of new lanes to facilitate the movement of the goods trains.
In the Nagpur region widening of bridges over the Nag River was a major issue. On Saturday the test drive was carried out after completion of bridge widening works and connecting Ajni with Khapri rail track.
The two railway tracks between Nagpur and Sindi in Wardha district have been completed. The Project Manager S Patil said that work up to Wardha will be completed soon.
