No sports or cultural programmes during summer heat
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Sports and Culture Department has appealed to the schools and colleges to refrain from organising sports and cultural programmes during the summer season. The instructions were issued during a meeting chaired by Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari. He reviewed preparations for preventing and treating sunstroke during the summer season.
As a part of preventive measures, the Sports and Culture officer Dr Piyush Ambulkar appealed to the schools and colleges. He also said that the organisers must ensure an adequate supply of drinking water, cooling of the venue, and manage the crowd properly during any event.
The possibility of sunstroke is high as the temperature in Nagpur is rising. Dr Chaudhari appealed to the people not to venture outside without any essential work. People should wear light, thin and porous clothes and use an umbrella, goggles and carry a bottle of drinking water with them Consuming lemon water, ORS, buttermilk etc helps in reducing the possibility of dehydration. He has advised to avoid the consumption of liquor, tea or coffee. Children and pets should not be kept in a closed parked vehicle.
