As part of its campaign on property tax defaulters, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation squad seized 54 open plots on Friday due to outstanding payments totaling 27.19 lakh. The Lakadganj zone squad had seized 109 similar plots the previous day.
Notably, Shama Cooperative Housing Society in Bharatwada owed 18.50 lakh for 34 plots, while Jai Ganga Maa Builders and Land Developers owed 8.68 lakh for 20 open plots in property tax.
Despite the corporation’s outreach about the Abhay scheme offering concessions to defaulters, they remained unresponsive. Consequently, the Lakadganj zone squad took action by seizing plots on Friday, urging them to settle their dues by March 31. To facilitate tax payments, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has extended office hours on Saturday and Sunday.
