The electricity price hike implemented by MSEDCL is impacting consumers as tariffs increase. Mahavitaran has raised electricity rates by 10 to 20 percent effective April 1, 2024. Previously, consumers paid Rs 5.58 per unit for 0 to 100 units, which will now increase to Rs 5.88 per unit.
Customers will now incur an additional cost of 30 paise per unit. Additionally, charges for consumption beyond specified limits have been revised: Rs 11.46 for 101 to 300 units, Rs 15.72 for 301 to 500 units, and Rs 17.81 for usage exceeding 500 units.
Commercial tariffs have also seen an increase. Under the new tariff structure, commercial customers will pay Rs 9.69 for consumption of 0 to 20 kilowatts, Rs 14.18 for 20 to 50 kilowatts, and Rs 16.55 for usage exceeding 50 kilowatts.
