The employees of social work colleges in Maharashtra are facing problems following their transfer from the Department of Social Justice to the Department of Higher and Technical Education. The employees are confused as they are not getting the required replies from the Department of Social Justice relating to their pension, salaries or pay fixation.
The Social Work colleges were shifted to the Department of Higher and Technical Education on March 1, 2024. Although the process required a long struggle by the Maharashtra Association of Social Work Educators (MASWE), the goal was achieved. The employees are waiting for their salaries and formalities to be completed for fixation of their pension, difference as per the seventh pay commission, pending dues etc.
The salaries were delayed for two to three months when they were attached to the Department of Social Justice. The majority of the employees were happy with the change. However, they are facing a different issue as the process may consume time. They are being made to run from pillar to post to get their genuine dues. Moreover, in the name of elections, most of the employees at the Department of Social Justice are not present or put an excuse of ‘Code of Conduct’ for the delay in completing their regular duties.
