After a six-month hiatus, construction on the Wadi flyover is set to restart at Wadi T-point. The State Public Works Department’s National Highway division, in collaboration with Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), has initiated the installation of monopoles. This move aims to raise the height of high-tension (HT) wires, which previously obstructed and delayed flyover work at the bustling Wadi junction on the Nagpur-Amravati highway.
MSETCL has been assigned the task of increasing the height of the 132KV electric lines from 10.5 meters to 28 meters. This adjustment is vital to facilitate the construction of the 2.46 km flyover, which is part of the Rs 478 crore Amravati Road traffic improvement plan by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The project aims to alleviate congestion on the busy road.
Another flyover, linking the RTO junction to the University Campus square, is included in the project. Construction of the Wadi flyover on the opposite side of Amravati Road has already been finished. The National Highway division plans to wrap up all flyover work by the end of May.
The original deadline of March 31 had to be extended due to the necessity of raising the height of the high-tension wires. During a site visit, the foundation has been laid for three monopoles, and erection of monopoles is currently underway at one location. Once this phase is completed, the process of stringing the cables will begin.
