Notices have been sent by the Election Department to candidates in the Ramtek and Nagpur Lok Sabha constituencies. Shyam Barve of the Congress and Raju Parve from the Shiv Sena (Shinde) in Ramtek, and Nitin Gadkari of the BJP and Vikas Thakare from the Congress in Nagpur, are among those who received notices. The Election Department cited disparities in expenditure reporting as the cause for these notifications.
As per the regulations, candidates can spend a maximum of 95 lakhs on elections. If the candidates surpass this sum, they might be facing consequences. As such, the Election Department is keeping a careful eye on the candidates’ expenses. It is mandatory for the candidates to provide the Election Department with information about their expenditures. For materials, lunch, and breakfast, the department has set fixed prices. The Election Department has received the candidates’ third-phase expenditure reports. The costs as stated by the candidates and the Election Department appear to differ, nevertheless.
