The Enforcement Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has come under scrutiny for ignoring encroachments by vendors illegally in the city.
The vendors are rampant across various areas of Nagpur, notably in Bajaj Nagar, IT Park road, Abhyankar Nagar road, Jaripatka, Mangalwari Bazar road, Chaoni Sadar, and RTM Nagpur University Campus. Crowded with mini trucks transformed into stalls for Chinese food, cold drinks, earthen pots, and paan, other food stalls on the footpaths, hindering pedestrian movement and causing congestion.
The Wardha Road project aimed to enhance Nagpur’s appeal with selfie points and a well-designed cycling track surrounded by greenery. Unfortunately, it has unintentionally become a magnet for vendors who operate illegally.
Despite repeated complaints, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Enforcement Department has failed to take action against these encroachments, raising concerns about public safety and taxpayer funds.
Taxpayer funds allocated for infrastructure development are questioned as vendors proliferate unchecked, posing safety risks and hampering pedestrian mobility. Citizens demand accountability from NMC officials, who appear to neglect their duty to curb encroachments and uphold public welfare.
