In a strong action against unauthorized vending, the Nagpur Division of Central Railway conducted a special surprise drive on dated 06.05.2024 targeting Train No. 12290 running from Nagpur to CSMT (Mumbai).
The drive was led by Shri R. Hussain, Assistant Commercial Manager, along with a team of three Chief Commercial Inspectors and two RPF staff members. Through meticulous planning and execution, the team intercepted the train at Khapri station in a secretive operation. The participating team members did not know the plan’s details until they boarded the train at Khapri. The team traveled by road to Khapri and intercepted all vendors within 15 minutes.
During the drive, the squad apprehended five unauthorized vendors who were illegally selling cooked food items, unauthorized brand water bottles, packaged snacks, soft drinks, and tea/coffee from a hot camper on the train. These vendors were de-boarded at Wardha station and handed over to the RPF along with their confiscated goods and forged documents.
Furthermore, the team conducted thorough inspections at the catering stalls on Wardha Railway station premises. They found irregularities such as the sale of non-approved cooked food items, and non-approved water bottles other than Railneer (IRCTC’s packaged drinking water). Two unauthorized trolleys were also confiscated.
