Nagpur Municipal Corporation has directed all its hospitals to be prepared to meet the challenges posed by increasing heat in the city. The hospitals have made special arrangements to handle the heat stroke patients.
The care has been taken as the temperature in the city has soared above 42 degrees Celsius.
Besides installing water coolers, facilities of fans, cold water and required medicines have been ensured. Awareness campaign about symptoms and preventive measures have been started.
Prominent symptoms include nausea, vomiting, cramps in muscles, exhaustion, temperature, perspiration, dehydration, fainting, headache, etc. Those suffering from heart disease, asthma, lung and kidney problems should take extra care.
Avoid heavy labour work during noon; keep hydrated; use lemon squash, buttermik, coconut water etc and avoid alcohol consumption. Cover head and face, use goggles, umbrella while moving out. Use cotton dresses. Avoid tight clothes.
These are some of the preventive measures adviced by the Municipal authorities.
