Chirag Lahoti won the Open Group Title and Anushka Deshpande wins the Girls title of the Nagpur District Under-11 Open and Girls Chess Championship organised by Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur on 12th May 2024.
Chirag Scores 5.5 points out of six to be on top and won the Ope group title. Swaraj Mishra scored 5 points to take the second position. Sahajveer Singh Maras, Aradhay Ubale, Shaurya Ambone, Kushagra Paliwal, Aarava Vishwanath and Suryansh Mohariay scored 4 1/2 points and were placed from 3rd to 8th in the merit list based on their tie break scores.
In the Girls Group, Anushka Deshpande and Anvi Hirde both scored 5 points out of six and were placed winner and runner-up respectively based on their tie break scores. Swara Gandhi, Nrutya Gurve, Amulyaa Chaudhari, Ritul Jain and Yashika Musale scored 4 points each and were placed 3rd to 7th in merit list based on their tie break scores.
Chirag Lahoti & Swaraj Mishra in Open Group and Anushka Deshpande & Anvi Hirde in Girls Group shall represent Nagpur District in the upcoming Maharashtra State Under-11 Chess Championship to be held later this year.
Prize Distribution Function was held immediately after the last round. Shri Nilesh Damle, Proprietor of M/d D.D.Associates and Stone Crushers and a social worker was the Chief Guest who distributed the prizes. Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur & Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation, FA Shiva Iyer were present on the dias. Shri S.S.Soman conducted the proceedings and announced the names of winner and proposed vote of thanks.
Trophies were awarded to Top Four finishers and Medals were awarded to players finishing from 3rd to 10th in the final standing in Both Group.
Medals were also distributed to the top three players in Under-7 and Under-9 Category in Open and Girls Group.
FA Shiva Iyer was the Chief Arbiter who was assisted by SNA Shyam Agrawal, SNA Prayas Ambade and Prathamesh Machave.
