A case of fraud has been registered in Sitabuldi police station against 17 parents who got admission in reputed schools of the city by submitting bogus documents for RTE admission.
The accused include Kamran Shams, Mohammad Bashir, Yash Arora, Suraj Ghodke, Mohammad Suleman Ali, Shahbaz Peer Khan, Salim Azim Baig, Manish Shahane, Sharad Devdhane, Rashid Amin, Shahbaz Niaz Peer Khan, Tardev Pawar, Sheikh AD Javed, Shyamshankar Satyanarayan Pandey, Bhrajkumar Lakshminarayan Chaturvedi, Mohd. Irshad Mohd. Iqbal Shareek and Anoop Kishore Ganatra According to the government scheme, under RTE, students are given free admission on 25 per cent seats of private schools.
Under this, students of any private school within 3 kilometers of campus can apply online for admission. For this, parents have to pro- vide the student’s Aadhar card, birth certificate, caste certificate, parent’s income certificate and other documents. Along with this, there is also a condition of the age of the student.
According to the information received, some of these parents, due to less documents for the admission process for the year 2023-24 and due to the age of the child being older, had fallen prey to the brokers, prepared bogus documents and uploaded them online along with the application.
The Education Department had consti- tuted a committee to scrutinize the RTE admission applications and documents. This com mittee included employees of private schools, officials of the education department etc Many cases of bogus doc uments being given were re vealed in the investigation of the committee. But no actior was taken for one year.
After this, media persons along with some organizations and social workers had com plained to the Zilla Parishad office and Nagpur Educatior Department. Finally, 8 officials of the Education Departmen reached Sitabuldi police station on Saturday night. On the com plaint of complaint officer Ra mesh Harde, Sitabuldi police on Saturday night registered a case against 17 accused par ents under sections 420, 465 471, 467, 468, 34.
