BJP gains lead in Bhandara-Gondia, Sudhir
Mungantiwar in Chandrapur trailing
Prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is leading by more than 40,000 votes in Nagpur. Gadkari is seeking a third term from Nagpur.
His nearest rival and Congress candidate Vikas Thakre is trailing. Thakre is the former Mayor of Nagpur and has good public contact.
Gadkari gained the lead right since the counting began at 8 am on Tuesday. Even during the counting of postal ballots, Gadkari was leading by about 11,000 votes.
Since the the first round, he was leading by about 4,000 votes and the trend continued. Gadkari was leading by more than 10,000 votes after the second round and mustered a lead of over 40,000 votes after the third round of counting.
Another prominent BJP leader and Maharashtra Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, however, is trailing in the Chandrapur constituency. Mungantiwar was about 26,000 behind his nearest rival Pratibha Dhanorkar of Congress. BJP candidate Navneet Rana is also trailing in the Amravati constituency.
Sitting MP from Bhandara-Gondia constituency Sunil Mendhe is leading by about 8,000 votes over Prashant Padole of Congress.
These are only trends. The final results will be known in the afternoon.
