Janhavi Hirudkar and Sanyogita Misar, two city athletes, have secured their spots in the upcoming Youth National Athletic Championship in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, to be held from June 15 to 19.
Their selection was based on their outstanding performance in the recent trials held at RTM Nagpur University Synthetic Track. Janhavi clinched the first position in the Under-18 girls category with a remarkable timing of 2 minutes and 56.43 seconds, while Sanyogita finished second in the 100m hurdles event with a time of 16.06 seconds.
They will be accompanied by Gajanan Thakre from Khel Foundation, serving as their coach. Janhavi, a student of Hindu Mulinchi Shaha, has been trained under the mentorship of Ashpaq Sheikh, while Sanyogita, a regular member of Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal, has been coached by Jitendra Ghordadekar.
