With academic session having partially started and set to full-fledged beginning, Maha Metro Nagpur is also set to increase its train frequency. Beginning 24th June (Monday), Metro trains would operate every 10 minutes from 8 am to 8 pm from all the four terminal stations of Khapri, Automotive Square, Prajapati Nagar and Lokmanya Nagar Metro Stations.
Academic session has begun with opening of a section of schools. The state board schools are also set to start soon. Considering the schools timings and the need for students to reach school in time, safe and secure, Maha Metro has made these changes. It was observed that a section of schools and colleges, continue till 6 pm and often students attend extra classes; hence the decision to stretch to 8 pm.
Importantly, Nagpur Metro rationalized its fare structure, which led to 33 % reduction in train fare. Add 30 % discount on Maha Card to students, the cumulative fare for school children and those studying in colleges, stands at around 50 % of the fare in the pre-rationalization days. The rationalization of fare structure has had a positive effect with Nagpur Metro registering certain rise in its ridership.
The city has witnessed road mishaps in recent times, it is hence advisable to students to travel by Metro for a safe and secure journey. Nagpur Metro offers not just safe and secure journey; the fact that students are allowed to carry bicycles inside metro trains (at no extra fare), further ensures seamless connectivity to students. The 10-minute frequency has been reduced from existing frequency of 15 mins.
Maha Meto recently launched WhatsApp ticketing, which has not just cut down time for commuting – it has eliminated the need for standing in queue for purchasing ticket – but WhatsApp eTicket has also ensured that paper needed for printing of ticket is saved. Maha Metro has multiple modes of ticket purchase to offer to commuters. These are:
• Ticket Window Cash
• Ticket Vending Machine
• Maha Metro Ticket Booking App
• Maha Card (10 %)
• Student Maha Card (30 %)
• WhatsApp Ticketing
Metro train services are available from 6 am to 10 pm. While the decision has been taken keeping the school and college students in mind, the decision would benefit office going staff, trading and business community too. With the academic activity set to increase in the coming days, Nagpur Metro urges students and their parents to prioritize Metro travel for an economical and comfortable journey.
